Helper Safety

Safety Guidelines

Safety is our top priority. Review these rules and best practices to ensure you complete every job without injury or accident.

Worker Right to a Safe Workplace

As an independent contractor, you have the right to inspect a job site. If you believe a task is unreasonably dangerous or you are being asked to lift items beyond your physical limits, discuss it with the contractor or refuse the task immediately.

Lifting Safety

Always lift with your legs, not your back. Keep your feet shoulder-width apart, bend at your knees, keep your back straight, and lift slowly.

Team Communication

When carrying heavy items with another helper, communicate constantly. Give clear signals before lifting, pivoting, or placing items down.

Using Proper Equipment

Utilize moving dollies, hand trucks, forearm forklifts, and ratchet straps. Do not attempt to carry extremely heavy appliances without proper gear.

Hydration & Fatigue

Stay hydrated throughout the day, especially in warm weather. Take short breaks to rest and avoid overexertion, which leads to injury.

Protecting Surroundings

Wrap delicate furniture items in moving blankets and use door jamb and floor protectors to avoid scratching walls, doorways, and hardwood floors.

Safe Footwear

Wear closed-toe, slip-resistant shoes or work boots on job sites. Avoid loose clothing that could get snagged on truck rails or doors.
